STAY ON TARGET
If you’re a big fan of My Neighbor Totoro, you might want to schedule a trip to Thailand — not Japan, which might confuse you a bit. Studio Ghibli fans around the world will want to head to the country for a surprising reason: there’s a new Totoro-themed restaurant there, the first of its kind, in the form of May’s Garden House Restaurant. It’s officially licensed by Studio Ghibli, and it’s all about everyone’s favorite furry pal, Totoro.
The restaurant, in Sukhumvit, Bangkok, is officially opening and features several areas such as the Children’s Playground, the Orchid Glasshouse, the Boat Water Pool, and the Library and two Halls for guests to wander through. You can find plenty of awesome things inside, like stained glass surprises with Totoro illustrations, huge plushes, and a gorgeous dining room with even more Totoro items to liven things up.
There are several dishes on the menu as well, such as special Thai soups, curries, chicken wings, and other fun Easter eggs you’ll recognize if you’re a Studio Ghibli fan. If you have a sweet tooth, you might want to partake in some of the desserts as well. Such as the Fluffy Mini Totoro Steamed Buns in Caramel Sauce, the Neko Bus Has Come to Town dish, or even May’s Hat, which is just about as beautiful as it gets when it comes to decorative dishes. Totoro in the Rai is particularly gorgeous as well.
If you’re interested in going, you can travel on over to Thailand between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm to partake in some fun lunch, dinner, and dessert treats, and proclaim your love of Totoro while there! And if you’re feeling like you need to share it all with the world, do us a favor and take tons of awesome pictures of your cuisine for us to see. Our mouths are watering.
